Our History
in 1973, netball in the district was abandoned due to a lack of patronage. There was a resurgence of interest in 1976 with 47 teams entering the competition which was held at Morse Park.
In 1977, Bathurst became affiliated with New South Wales Netball Association and in 1978, Bathurst City Council provided additional courts at the Police Paddocks. At this time, there were 600 women and girls actively involved.
Netball became increasingly popular as numbers increased and Bathurst City Council offered to provide a clubhouse, two all-weather courts and 14 grass courts at the John Matthews Complex. The Association commenced play at the new site in 1982. 1990 saw the addition of two more all-weather courts and in 1994, lights were installed around the four all-weather courts to enable twilight competitions to be run as well as greater access to training facilities.
Every year since 1981, Bathurst has fielded Representative teams to participate in the State Championships.
As of 2024, the complex now boasts 13, recently resurfaced, all-weather courts surrounded by lights, seating and clubhouse and change rooms.
